(More customer reviews)Before you can use this unit, they tell you to run a "calibration cycle" on part of your wall with no studs - but how do you know without a stud finder, huh - classic chicken/egg problem. So I try to calibrate on a wood desk & several other places, but each time the signal denoting a calibration in progress just keeps going. After much fiddling, I finally contact their online tech support. This was not easy though, as their web site is completely retarded. Finally got a message out and a few days later came a non-helpful reply, so more emailing ensued. Eventually, the rep determined that my unit was dysfunctional write out of the box. Because I got it as a gift, I have no receipt and because you have to destroy the shrink-wrapped package to open it, it was not returnable. Ryobi refused to replace it themselves. What a waste - never will want another ryobi experience.
